Okapi Green Energy Limited was founded by Mbakwa Vasco Hamisi, he is a refugee from Democratic Republic of Congo and the co-founder of Resilience Action International (formerly SAVIC). Vasco recognized the pressing need for sustainable energy in Kakuma Refugee Camp home of 200,000 refugees. Inspired by the struggles of families relying on costly, unreliable power, the company aims to provide clean, affordable, reliable and sustainable solar energy to his fellow refugees and local hosts living in Kakuma Refugee Camp.
Currently Okapi Green Energy Ltd is serving over 250 households and businesses with a 20Kw capacity, Okapi also empowers communities through solar installation training, electrical maintenance, and entrepreneurship programs. By offering job placement and networking opportunities, the company fosters self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods. Okapi Green Energy Limited is dedicated to transforming lives and powering brighter futures.

Okapi Green Energy and Renewvia Energy have joined forces to form OKRE, delivering sustainable power solutions to Kakuma Refugee Camp and Kalobeyei Settlement. Our partnership expands electricity access, empowering communities through reliable energy for homes, businesses, and essential services.
